Hydrogen and fuel cell technologies have been identified by the departtment as a 'frontier science and
technology' initiative. The transition to a hydrogen economy was expected to reduce dependency on oil and gas, as well as reduce carbon
emissions. The initiative could also potentially expand the base for the creation of wealth and put Romania in a position to complete
in a dynamic knowledge economy.
The declared mission of the
National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Centre
is to grow deeper scientific knowledge of the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell chemical and physical processes and to bring together technology
and expertise in order to provide a platform for new business development into this new energy field.
NHFCC would like to co-operate with regular citizens, the business community, authorities and research
institutions to promote the development and the use of hydrogen technology, hydrogen production, fuel cells and renewable energy.
At the same time, NHFCC wants to co-operate with partners locally, regionally, nationally and European
and supply knowledge for the general public as well as a wide range of private companies.
