About

National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Centre is a body charged by National Authority for Scientific Research with developing and implementing new technologies related to the new hydrogen energy. The Centre has been created officialy in 2008 through a large direct financial investment, but based on a prior experience of the National Research & Development Institute for Isotope and Cryogenics Technology staff in working with hydrogen.
     Actually,
NRDIICT Ramnicu Valcea has been involved in the Hydrogen "business" since 1970, when a new research facility has been setup in order to develop the Heavy Water production technology. Since then, the Institute was an active player on the Hydrogen isotope "market". Several "success stories" has been developed in Ramnicu Valcea, almost all being based on Hydrogen Isotopes researches: Heavy Water productiontechnology, Tritium Separation Pilot facility, Depleted Deuterium Water for medical applications, etc.
From 2002, NRDIICT has been involved in the Hydrogen Fuel Cell research proiects and started to push the research and development of these technology at national level. Step by step, the knowledge and expertise of our staff increased and the achievements of the last years showed that we could pass to the next level of performance, transforming distinct and gained research projects into a more focused and coordinated work into this new organizational structure. A solid proof that our results are reliable was the research funds that we succeed to "pull towards us" in the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell area, within the last years were around 2.5 mil euro.
In 2008, a large financial investment has been granted to
NRDIICT Ramnicu Valcea to be assigned for a new Hydrogen Research Centre. This investment includes a new building and new instrumental and testing facilities, at the same location as the Institute.
